Angel's Bonnet
Or Mycena arcangeliana if you're that way inclined.
To be honest these little (and this tiny fungi was about 1" tall) bonnets are very difficult to pin down exactly without a lot of tests, and as the main test for these is to pick one, crush it and smell - well that seemed like too much of a shame to do. But as it was growing on the right substrate (ash) and alone, and has those little serrated edges - I've gone with Angel Bonnet as it just looked heavenly.
As the fungi season blooms I'm missing little camera's macro feature - unsurprisingly it's been written off ( nothing seems to be fixable in today's world) - so I'm on the hunt for a replacement, I'm very tempted to go for the same again(Panasonic Lumix TZ60) as the size, zoom, macro & wifi were my main desirables - but if anyone has a better recommendation them I'd love to hear it.
Today was torrential this morning and bright sun all afternoon. As we had family visiting this afternoon we had little choice but to get wet! Still the ancient woodland around Haweswater kept the worst of it off us and we even found a 'hobbit walk' that we'll have to go back to explore. There was also a wonderful secret stash honesty box of soft drinks and chocolate snacks - a kindly good samaritan gesture for Coast to Coast walkers that I've not encountered before, fabulous, I'm sure it's brightened many people's day.
