Maize silage and another visitor

The whole maize plant plus cobs are minced or sliced up into small bits to make a nutritious feed for the cows. After it has been rolled the whole area is covered with a plastic sheet and weighted down in order that the contents of the clamp ferment over the next few months.

The extra photograph is of another visitor to the farm!  I nearly had a fit when I first saw him as he is enormous!  A brief lover for B's sow.  They seem to be very relaxed in each other's company and the boar likes to sleep peacefully next to his sweetheart!
