Winter is Descending in the Alps

It has been very cold and rainy at our altitude so this morning revealed what had been happening higher up. This is the Cathédrale, one of the 7 peaks of the Dents du Midi, just appearing out of the early morning clouds.

It was not the most auspicious start to the day but, having arranged a rendez-vous for a walk with 2 friends, we went anyway and had a chilly ascent of Mont d'Or. The views were spectacular! I could also have blipped "Women on Top" the extra photo! What a great chat we had: up the hill, down the hill, on the summit (where a bearded vulture did a fly-by) and in the café afterwards. A great walk.
