Krka

Pronounced 'Kirka' this is a National park based around 24 km of the Krka river and here, in the lower area before it empties into the Adriatic, there are wonderful waterfalls created by the limestone tufa in the region.

We spent a couple of hours walking along the boardwalks that wind through the woods to viewpoints that show off the waterfalls to their best. The woods were colourfully underplanted with wild cyclamen and the trees were showing signs of autumn colour.

It was a bit cloudier when we left the coast to head inland to the park north of Split but it stayed fine and warm enough to eat al fresco before returning to our coach by boat.

Back in Omis we headed up to the Mirabelle tower set into the limestone mountains above the town before dinner only to get caught out in a thunderstorm. We had to take shelter in a bar in the old town. Two Aperol Spritz' later it didn't seem to matter that we had got a bit wet!

Great day in a beautiful place!
