A view from Jeanneb

Balkan sun

It was good to see the sun on our journey up the Dalmatian coast this afternoon as we arrived at Dubrovnik airport in a thunder storm and had to circle for about 20 minutes before we could land. On landing the rain was bouncing off the tarmac on the runway but, bags collected, we headed out to find the rain gone and the sun shining.

The journey up the coast was wonderful not least the view of Dubrovnik from above - extra - no wonder it is called the pearl of the Adriatic but I haven't chosen that as my blip as we will be back there later in the week.
This is the view from where we took our refreshment break and I chose it because it is overlooking the only port in Bosnia Herzogovena, Neum.. Bosnia has only 13 km of coast compared with over 450 km of coast in Croatia. That makes this a bit special I think.

We are now in Omis a small town a few miles south of Split. We have a sea view balcony looking across to the Island of Brac and we made the most of the early evening sun with a walk along the beach and back. The town is backed by mountains and has a very pretty old quarter where we headed for a pre dinner drink accompanied by bell ringing and singing from the church.

We had a splendid dinner accompanied by Croatian wine and now I'm pooped (we were up at 3.45 am) so heading to bed.
The forecast is a bit mixed for tomorrow but it is pleasant and warm and a delight to be here in this lovely area.
