Gluren bij de Buren , 'Peeking on the neighbours'
A beautiful sunrise and the sun was out early. We went down to Crofters, a little bistro in Rosemarkie ,with David for breakfast. We all had scrambled eggs and salmon which was very nice. As it was so nice we went for a walk along the beach before going home. I worked in the garden while Mike sealed the floor in the log cabin.
In the afternoon we went to Cromarty to Gluren bij de Buren, Peeking on the neighbours. The event is organised by ' The Cheese House' and friends -and is a celebration of the delightful homes and many talents to be found in Cromarty and the surrounding area'. This is a concept from the Netherlands where the 'local community of people open their house for an afternoon of performance - music,story-telling and comedy sketches.' There were 10 venues with 28 performances throughout the afternoon lasting for around 30 minutes each. We went to see Piggery Spur in the East Church, two musicians playing a variety of string instruments and singing songs inspired by people and places on the Black Isle.Just enough time to get to the annexe at the back of the antique shop to listen to Ceoloran , a four piece acoustic band playing and singing traditional folk music , very enjoyable. We picked up an ice cream from Couper Creek and stood watching two kayaks row by along the Cromarty Firth. Feeling hungry we decided that we would get a pizza so off to Sutor Creek to put in our order. We sat and watched a fisherman sorting out his catch while we waited and the small group, True Heart, in the blip photo were playing opposite all enjoying the warm sunshine.
We ate our pizza in one of the car parks near the nature reserve and watched the geese and swans that had gathered together. From the bird hide car park birds were giving a good sunset display and the air was filled with the sound of geese as they took off and landed in the stubble fields.
