Gathering russets

Today we decided to get the russet apples down off the tree which is rather tall it took some doing and they kept falling off and hitting us on the head but we managed to get most of them down, there are a few left on but they are difficult to get to so the birds and bugs can have them.
We had a couple at lunchtime lovely and juicy and crunchy.
It's never had a good crop because it was moved and it's tap root got snapped off so it's taken years to establish it's self again, but this year it's been really prolific.
