Spreading oak trees

The tree people have been busy at the local recreation ground, lopping back over bearing branches which could be a danger.
Just wish I could get these guys round to our place where we have a similar problem posed by three oak trees, two of ours, one on a neighbour’s land.
Trouble is that over the years, all three have grown to such ungainly proportions that not only is there the danger of dead branches falling in the winds, but they also block out daylight in the summer to the extent that we often need a light on in the kitchen simply to read the newspaper at breakfast time.
And then of course, come the fall, all those leaves which have cut back on natural light in the kitchen, will create another dilemma — shedding themselves into the garden. That means weeks of clearing up leaves on a daily basis.
At one time we had another predicament, with the branches spreading rather close to the house, making an easy launching pad for squirrels onto our roof, and then into the roof space. Which left us with the problem of how to get rid of them before they caused havoc.
The telescopic lift gantry makes the job of pruning the trees much simpler for the guys attending to the trees by the rec, although in another part of the recreation ground I did spot another guy using ropes and clambering the tree itself.

In schoolboy days, I enjoyed climbing tress.  This is an entirely different equation!
