Lismore Lady
Today has been another wonderful day - sunshine from start to finish, though it hasn't finished yet, being barely 6.00pm.
We took a picnic and drove to Port Appin, where we walked beyond the Pierhouse Hotel and its lunchtime clientele and sat on the rocks in the sun, watching the world, the birds and the boats go by.
The little passenger ferry, 'The Lismore', chugged over and back a couple of times from Port Appin to Lismore while we sat there - the Lismore slip is out of sight to the left. She is seen here passing Eilean nan Caorach, a small island where lime was once quarried and burnt in three kilns, visible in this picture. One website described the quarrymen's cottage as being a holiday home; I'm not sure if it still is, but it appears in reasonable condition and secure. It was about a mile away from where we were sitting.
