The final tankful ....
A dry cold start with a hint of frost. Spent the morning drying a batch of the 23% barley from yesterday. It took a while ! If my back of a fag packet calculations are right it is costing about £5/ton in diesel alone , but at least it is dry..
The combine cutting by 2pm so left Kev carting in and sent Bill to turn the damp/ wet oat straw again. He was doing fine until he finished and came back into the steading through a gap narrower than the rake ! Resulting in one bent like a banana machine. Another repair job to add to the list. Went away to bale straw to calm down.
This is the last tankful of barley going into the trailer. It has been a long drawn out harvest and I think I have aged considerably in the process. Now if could stay dry till we get the straw baled and silage cut and baled I would be a happy lad !
