After the early fog it was a very nice day to walk from Gullane to North Berwick along the coast. For a while we watched a little plane ‘looping the loop’ and then doing twists and rolls. Overhead occasional skeins of geese flew over on their long journeys from the Arctic areas to their warmer winter quarters. The views from the microlight above must have been spectacular looking down onto the fields and the sandy beaches and rocky outcrops and across the calm sea towards the towering clouds to the north. Offshore a fisherman checked several lobster pots while in the distance there were several different types of boat.
Unfortunately when I checked my photos I discovered that most of them had been taken at the 0.3M setting, so today’s blip has to be the labyrinth that we found on Gullane beach. I did not want to spoil it by walking along the paths to the middle as tradition has it that it’s a journey of meditation towards the centre and peace. My walk had been a walk of contentment amidst the sounds and sights of the sea and sand with hardly a soul seen until we reached the beaches near North Berwick.
