Communing with nature
Phew what a day's walking today! I even felt the need to buy Vollmilch Kürbiskern (chocolate with pumpkin seeds - well, I do try to be a bit healthy...) on the way back to the hotel for sustenance!
We've walked for around a gazillion miles today. First off we visited Nymphenburg Castle gardens, which is lovely (well, really more grounds than garden!) - though I was more impressed with Schönbrunn the other day. Then this afternoon we made our way to, and around, the Englischer Garten. Not quite sure why it's "Englischer", but it's a beautiful space near the centre of Munich, full of trees and streams running through. Just after I took the blip, six people came round the bend swimming! Not sure that was strictly allowed, but we turned a blind eye whilst making nice with a black squirrel.
We also went to the Olympic Park which, disappointingly, now houses crappy stalls and a kids' fun fair. The pool is used, and apparently sporting events and concerts are held there, but it seemed such a come down. Though I suppose the Munich Olympics were 40 years ago!
Have just watched Mo Farar winning a gold medal and I gather we're doing quite well :-)
Sat in the evening sunshine having dinner, then trudged back to the hotel (via a few wrong turns!) for a wee drinkie. More shopping, less walking tomorrow!

ps it's funny isn't it - woodlands at home make Katy's eyes puff up, and the countryside in general makes me itch - and yet we were both fine today :-)
