The last stand
I got up rather early in order to help Doc get a train to Dalmeny - the various road works going on mean that a visitor has little chance of guessing where to get off the bus and indeed how to find a way into the station. He went off to help the Burryman get dressed.
Later on I picked up a hire car and we headed out to South Queensferry. We intercepted the Burryman at Tesco and then followed him for the rest of the afternoon. By the time we got to Scotmid we were half a million strong there was a sizeable crowd; I noticed a small dog and thought "He looks just like Ruiaridh the Wonder Dog", at the same moment that BB, who was at the other end of his lead, spotted DaveH. So it actually was his Highness, in person (should that be in dog?). It was quite a mini-blip-meet, with Miss R Able all the way from Sweden along with LLP and Bella - lovely to see you all!
The last section of the Burryman's ten-hour walk involves him walking the length of the High Street right up to the Hawes Inn by the rail bridge, then back again to finish at the Staghead Inn, where he's finally de-burred. Just before he gets there he's propped up against this lamp post for a final photo call.
