Bye bye Thomas
An unexpected day at Wittersham Road signalbox today. I was rostered for the Cranbrook Road crossing but for some reason the Wittersham signalman was not able to do his turn so I volunteered to move to Wittersham as it was easier for the Railway to find someone to man the gates at Cranbrook.
A good day too, Thomas who had been around on the Railway for the weekend had been delivered to Wittersham and was on the low loader when I arrived. There was a three hour delay in departure owing to a problem with the tractor unit but eventually Thomas departed to his next appointment on the Spa Valley Railway in Tunbridge Wells. Interestingly the tractor unit you can see was indeed Thomas's.
Another day tomorrow, this time a Railway Experience Day, RXD, which means an early start at Rolvenden for 7.30pm.
