Between Heavy Showers

13.9C with a dry bright morning and squally showers (one or two torrential) through the afternoon. Wind Westerly to 34 mph with gusts to 47 mph right through the night and today. Wind forecast to ease.

Westerly is a noisy wind direction in the rooms at the back of our house when there are gales.

With the wind forecast to ease in the afternoon I waited until after 2pm to take Maeve the Deerhound for a walk. Runrig (The Story) on the Clip. We went for a wander along to the harbour, went out on the old quay to look at the fishing boats, then went along the narrow park by the ferry terminal. The rain came on. I did my best to get us some shelter under some trees in the park. Once the rain had more or less passed we went to the end of the park then came back home. We got caught in the next squall but managed to find some shelter under the covered walkway in front of the old picture house which is being renovated. In the end we didn't get too wet.
