Off to Bhutan!

The only thing that poked through the clouds on the short flight from Kathmandu to Paro in Bhutan was Mount Everest. Dizzying heights...

My first impression of Bhutan is wonderful: it feels like something out of "The King and I" -- modern day version. Even the airport (see extra) is beautiful. People wear the traditional outfits when they're on the clock, which adds to the overall feeling that you've just stepped back in time.

There's also a feeling of incredible peace all around. Maybe it's the place where we're staying; maybe it's simply the people (see one of the trekking guides in extra) and what they stand for. I'd venture to say it's the latter, but I have two weeks here to confirm this.

For now, I'm off to bed: up early tmrw again to do the climb up to Tiger's Nest. I'm nervous about that one: we start off at 7,100' and climb to 10,000'   Not sure I'm up to it. Fingers crossed!
