Waratah Festival
I have to confess, I am "Wild about Waratahs"!! CCN and I couldn't have picked a better day to visit the Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens in Mt Tomah. We decided to beat the crowds and arrived just on opening time. Too early for a much needed coffee though!!
Honestly, there are no words to describe the display of Waratahs. They are the most spectacular flower. Way back in 2002 a bushfire came through Wombat Hollow and there wasn't a green leaf left on the property. Two years later we had the most amazing number of waratah's blooming and we decided to have a fundraiser for our Rotary Club. (See extra). Obviously the fire was the trigger for the phenomenon however we're not anxious to see this again in our lifetime really. It was quite an emotional time, however the spectacle that we witnessed over the ensuing three to four years made up for the devastating event.
I have posted some extra images today and I urge you to browse through them. The black background really makes a difference in this instance. I think you will be astonished, particularly with the arrangements of wild flowers that were on display in the foyer.
