Tulips on steroids

This is the corner outside the city post office.  As I was driving I noticed that the tulips have begun flowering  right on cue for the Tulip Festival starting on Saturday.  I found this planting of tulips a little disturbing.  The blooms are huge.  I think I prefer the more traditional size.  The city council has done a fantastic job giving the shopping areas a make over.  Each main intersection has shrubs, paving, seating and this one has a log made into a bike stand.  Sorry no bikes to demonstrate how it works.
