Union Bridge

It was so nice to have nothing to get up for this morning.  I slept late.  TT on the other hand being jet lagged woke early, and was very envious of my slumber.  He went off to church and I pottered. I started to cook tea, but realised I didn’t have everything I needed which was a little frustrating.  When he got back from church, TT cut the grass and got trapped by one of our neighbours who isn’t happy about the building site in the field behind us.  While we have never been happy about it, he was quite happy when it was proposed, but the reality has hit him now as the houses start to appear.

TT and I headed to Paxton House for lunch and  then had a lovely walk by the River Tweed, walking from Scotland to England and back again.  We came home via the supermarket and I then finished cooking tea.

BB came home clean and dry (with a bag full of wet and dirty clothes), but tired, hungry and cheeky – it must be hard work being good all weekend.  He seems to have had a great time, though it did rain.

Yesterday I blipped the highest  bridge in the world in 1786.  Today I am blipping the longest iron suspension bridge when it was built in 1820 – the Union Chain Bridge across the River Tweed, linking Scotland with England.  I was amazed that cars can still cross it, but was relieved that no cars went across when we walked across, so I didn’t need to walk too near the edge.  The extra shows a detail from the bridge.  The inscription says - United, Strength is Yet Stronger.
