Pease Bridge
I was woken by a text from TT to let me know his flights were all on time and he would need to be picked up as we had arranged. Thankfully he was taking the tram and the train so I only had to go to a nearby station to collect him, rather than head to the airport. We’ve had a quiet day.
After a lunch cobbled together from bits and pieces in the fridge, we headed to Pease Bay, for a walk at Pease Dean. It wasn’t the most exciting walk – being in woodland. We were promised a marvellous view from the high point in Penmanshiel Wood, but the trees have grown tall and now obscure the view. We had to imagine it! part of the walk is on the Southern Upland Way. Anyway, was nice to be out in the fresh air and to explore somewhere that we have driven past many times, always saying we must go for a walk there.
We had a takeaway for tea, followed by Strictly and Victoria for me. TT was weary after his travels and had an early night.
This is Pease bridge. According to Wikipedia, the bridge was opened in 1786. At that time it was the highest bridge in the world - comprising four tall arches. It is 300 ft long, 16 ft wide, and 139 ft high. The blip is courtesy of TT, as he scrambled down the gorge to get a photograph for me that was not obscured by trees. The extra is a view from our drive home.
