Pidgeon Jnr
Remember Polly the wood pidgeon sitting patiently on her nest? Well, I was wondering what on earth was taking so long, but finally, at the beginning of this week I spotted two little heads poking up above the twigs. They seem to have been left alone rather a lot, but today one of the parents appeared to give a few comforting coos. The chicks are fed on crop milk, specially produced by their parents, which may account for the lack of usual to-ing and fro-ing from the nest with food. Fledging can take between 16-35 days. More information on wood pidgeons can be found here for the interested :)
Whilst I was gardening there was much wing fluttering going on above me, which I suspect is Jnr practicing in the nest.
