Tortoiseshell Butterfly

It's FRIDAY. Hurrah! And the sun shone again! This has to be something of a record for this summer.

Mr Lif and I sat in the garden enjoying the sun then headed up the hill for a picnic. Poor man was laden down with a back pack of supplies and further hindered by the heat. When we got to our chosen spot and looked around the picnic benches were gone! The farmer was having a party to show off his two new holiday lodges and had, inconsiderately, nabbed them without giving us any warning! How rude! So we headed home and had the picnic in the garden instead :)

The sun brought out this little butterfly who was nestling on the buddleia. As you can see its a wee bit battle scarred on one of its wings but still very pretty nonetheless.
