Sunset with Earth's Shadow

Our entire small family went out to dinner at a restaurant on the main pier at Cap Ferret, and this superb sunset greeted us on arrival. For those who might not be aware, the blue is the shadow of the earth (looking east). I remember my father first pointing that out to me when I was young, and I still have the same fascination seeing it. The poles provide support for a large area of oysters in production--covered by the high tide in the image.

During the day we took the small ferry across the Bassin to the town of Arcachon; the extra shows a view of it on the return. It was fun to wander, with interesting architecture above the town and a lovely park above the town (hinted at by the trees behind the church).
