Black-headed Gull
We took a walk this afternoon in the Reserve Naturelle d'Arès et de Lège-Cap Ferret, well north of where we're staying. It had much more of a sea-side ambiance, with many fewer tall pines and generally shorter vegetation. The Black-headed Gull is perhaps Europe's commonest gull. It has its very dark chocolate-brown head only when breeding, which now is well past.
My mark on the map is pretty much a guess
