Barley
Spent several hours today clipping and grooming, trimming and bathing Ollie. His coat was very long, and after every walk it took ages trying to get all the seed heads, burs, cleavers and assorted bits of foliage out of his fur. Also because he is in the sea at least once a day, he is quite often damp and a bit malodorous too! Once he was all neatly trimmed and clean we went for a nice clean walk, no sea bathing, just through the fields and round the headland. Now he's all fluffy and soft, and no one could possibly object to his presence!
Up on the hill the fields of barley are just beginning to ripen. When we were kids we used to put a head of barley up our sleeve and be amazed that, as we walked, it worked its way up to our armpits! And it still does, I did it today!
This is definitely best viewed large.
