I came for my dad's tools today. He left them to me on his death,
three years ago this past April. It's been a hard task to bring myself
to, but I especially wanted this handmade tool chest he built in the
late 1940s or early 50s. He was always proud of the fact that he used
no nails; the whole thing is held together with screws. Shutting the
lid and wheeling it away from the spot it occupied in his shop for
decades was a hard and sad task. Some day I'll pass this along to my
son.
