True Love

11 years ago today, I married my best friend and in all that time, I can honestly say that we've hardly had a cross word.

We were up and out early this morning and the roads were very quiet so we got the airport earlier than planned. As we were driving along, our driver started laughing - there was a chicken crossing the road with what looked like a moorhen, and the funniest thing is, that they were at a zebra crossing!  I wish I could have taken a picture as no-one will believe me.

It rained through the night and was cloudy when we left and once we were in the airport it started raining quite heavily - that made it easier to come home!

We boarded our plane on time, but ended up being 30 minutes delayed as Gatwick was so busy, they couldn't take our plane.  So the pilot came out of the cockpit and introduced himself, explained the problem and said that children could go and visit the cockpit.  He was quite comical and everyone clapped him when he finished speaking.  It's not often they'll do that, and I think he handled the situation really well.

On landing at Gatwick, we waited for our cases, and you know that feeling when you watch the carousel going round - you watch for your case and then it doesn't turn up?  Well that was us and one other family.  We asked someone if there were any other cases still to come off the plane, but he said not.  So we had to go to report our missing cases and were told that they should be with us by Tuesday at the latest.

The only problem is that Alan flies to Chicago tomorrow morning and there are his shoes and other things that he could have done with taking with him, and all my toiletries are in that case.  I've done a list of items that I think are in it just in case it doesn't turn up and I have to make a claim.  Anyway, I'm not getting stressed at the moment, but if I don't hear anything tomorrow I'll be on the phone to them!

So tonight, I've cooked us an anniversary dinner of fillet steak and we opened the bottle of 2006 Moet et Chandon that Alan bought back from his trip to China which we said we'd save it for a special occasion.

Anyway, it's back to work for me tomorrow, and I wonder if I'll hear anything about my notice period.  I've told Alan that if it gets awkward, I may just walk, but hopefully it won't come to that.

I'll go and help him finish his packing now and then it's time for bed - we're still on Spanish time and he's being picked up at 6am!
