Aussichtsturm Friedrichshafen
Observation Tower in Friedrichshafen. It's probably a great view when the clouds aren't down at 50 meters and, to be honest, looking out over the lake towards the Alps has got to be a lot better than looking at Friedrichshafen.
It was the one of the few places on the Bodensee that got heavily bombed during WWII and as a consequence getting things built quickly took precedence over prettiness.
We ended up there after a walk through drizzle to Hagnau and then jumping the ferry.
There isn't much to see . the Zeppelin Museum and then you're done. The museum isn't that exciting and it was full because the wéather was/is awful.
It started raining around 6 this morning and really hasn't stopped since. Being able to just get on ferries is much nicer than struggling through rain and wind with wet trousers and flagging spirits.
Oh and a bit of a German etymology for you - if you're on or around the Rhein in Germany, if a placename ends in "au" or "werth" then it usually means it's on the water (the "au" ending is also used by lots of islands on the river. Mainau & Lindau being prime examples here).
