Dore Abbey
“Dreams, if they're any good, are always a little bit crazy. ”
Ray Charles
Such a lovely day today, with an unexpected visitor in the morning to share a coffee.
Decided to go to Abbey Dore Court Gardens for a late lunch. Yes, I know it's not the best time of year for visiting the gardens but I've not been there before so any time they're open is a good time. And today they're open, and serving lunch, so it's a good day to go.
As we were heading back home K spotted the entrance to Dore Abbey, screeching brakes and in we go for a look around. The original buildings date from the 12th century, although it has changed a bit since the Abbey was dissolved and is now a parish church.
There's something about Dore Abbey at Abbey Dore that tickles my sense of humour.
