Hanging with Sir Dave

David Attenborough was in our office today and he had a few moments with each of us. He was interested in hearing about Aceh (maybe because he had family members who died in the tsunami in Thailand) and the efforts to rebuild. And we somehow got to fantasising about visiting remote hilltop tribes in Laos - somewhere he's never been - and I detected a rueful tone that his adventuring days are more or less over. You can live vicariously through me Dave. I didn't remind him of one of our earlier meetings in 2009 when he was much grumpier at BBC Broadcasting House for a recording about orang-utans. Grumpiness possibly caused by a 26 year old me fawning over him in a lift that he couldn't escape from.

Out enjoying the sun at lunchtime in the smarter clothing we'd been told to wear for today's event, I trod right in a fresh cow pat. Not my finest hour.
