Exotic Plants

A second trip to La Almunya del Sur Botanical Garden.

A lovely day with brilliant sunshine.   a different look to the Gardens at this time of year.   Not as much colour but different exotic plants were flowering now.

From  top left going clockwise , this looks like it is all dried up but is in fact the new flower,  a Cotton Plant which I found unusual here,  next you can see the flower giving off nectar (this was in the greenhouse),   paper like balls holding the seeds, and lastly the green centre is a fruit which takes 2 years to grow and is like a pineapple and banana.

Much more to discover around each corner, with several large spiders in webs, the turtles sunbathing, and some frogs and toads about.

Afterwards we were taken up to a viewing room which was not there at our last visit where we had homemade lemonade with mint, with almond biscuits, home grown grapes and chinese dates which tasted like hard little apples.   We could look down onto the whole of the garden at treetop level.

It is definitely worth another visit.
