Eastern Black Swallowtail in Flight
Followed this black swallowtail around for a bit. Studied it's flight habits and was able to get a flight photo, but the swallowtail was not as predictable as a monarch butterfly. Wind was blowing from the left, and the butterfly landed on the flower directly beneath it which was my focus point. This was a nice young specimen and wings were not beat up as many swallowtails I am seeing.
Played with processing (clarity, brightness, saturation...) so the pic is more artsy.
Extra - monarch in flight. Three monarchs were feeding within 0.5 meter of each other, and have two in this photo. Nice warm day for the butterflies at 84 F/28.9 C. Did not see the tagged butterfly observed the past two days.
