"Kahnie"!

I stayed home the first part of the morning, watching the Olympic Show-jumping, then I went out to discover a few more Art for All installations, firstly at Evendale Cultural Arts Center, then on to Kennedy Heights Art Center, where I was surprised to come across this giant pig. He represents the Cincinnati-based Kahn meat processing and distribution company, now part of the Sara Lee corporation. I'm guessing he's perhaps there as they are having an Art Parade on Saturday, but I decided he could serve as my blip for the day! The Kennedy Heights Arts Center is housed in a charming gothic-style, wood-frame building on 2.3 acres, the former home of Lewis Kennedy, who developed the community of Kennedy Heights and served as its mayor before the area was annexed by Cincinnati. In 2003, developers had threatened to bulldoze the 21-room historic landmark for a storage facility, but fortunately area residents quickly organized to save the building. I tried to get a picture showing the building too, but I just couldn't get a decent angle. Around the side of the building they had quite a nice flower garden, which is where the art work was located. Then I went to the "Y" to swim in the outdoor pool - a nice refreshing break in a day which once again reached into the 90's. Then it was grocery shopping on the way home.
