September 11

A nice article today in the Salem Statesman Journal on this man, Rich Guadagno, who lost his life on September 11, 2001, when his plane crashed in Pennsylvania. I blipped about him earlier in the summer. Rich was the manager of the Baskett Slough Refuge, a tract of land close to our home. Baskett Slough is the home of the endangered Fender's Blue butterfly, Rich's legacy as it turns out.

We thought we saw a Fender's Blue flitting about our land here the other day. I kept looking for one today, which would have been perfect on this day, September 11, 2016. Fifteen years since the passing of Rich, and thousands more.
