left work early today to travel along with a fellow [/i]year=2008]blipper and his wife to asheville for the warren haynes x-mas jam. not a great pic here as it's the one i have from the day, standing in the parking lot of the hotel as we unpacked.

for those unaware, warren haynes (of allman bros fame) has put together this volunteer event every year before christmas in order to raise funds for habitat for humanity. all labor (even from the artists) is volunteer, and all proceeds go towards the charity.

another note about this concert is that it's a pure stamina fest. each year the show starts at about 7p, and is infamous for lasting until the wee hours. this year was to be no exception, and as it's the 20th anniversary, there's two nights of it this year.

tonight's biggest highlight? warren and john paul jones (yes, of zep) performing 'soulshine' and 'going to california' together.

how'd we do? poorly. we left the civic center at 3:30a - in the midst of the allman brothers set that started at 2a. from what we hear, the show ended at 4:30a.
