It's not every supermarket that has large ships tied up at the end of the car park, but Asda in Newhaven is different. Today, when we stopped off to buy rice* before heading home, there were two enormous cable-laying ships moored beside one another, and behind them at right angles a cruise ship. * Why is it so hard to buy what used to be the ubiquitous American Long Grain rice? If it's not Easy Cook rice, it's Basmati or jasmine or brown or somehow-messed-about-with and flavoured. Does everyone just use Basmati for everything these days?
