St. Edmund's - Rochdale
We visited St Edmund's Church in Falinge, Rochdale as part of the Heritage Open Days. This church is regarded as one of the finest but least known gems of ecclesiastical architecture in the country.
The hammerbeam roof is particularly good, full of carvings of pomegranates, lillies and water lillies - all of which I was told are part of Masonic symbolism. I don't know anything about this; I just liked it.
