'Lost in Venice'

We've had an eventful day...and it's been very hot!
This morning we had a 'courtesy of our Hotel' boat trip across to Murano....to see the glass makers, a family business. Beautiful work.....the one piece I fell in love with...would have cost over a thousand euro!

This afternoon we GOT LOST for several hours...we had made our way along the Grand Canal on the San Marco side along to Ponte dell' Accademia and then on to Santa Maria della Saluta. Having watched a prayer service (wonderful Organ) we then had a drink at the Centurion Hotel. Then the fun started. We had decided to have a meal at a small Ristorante Bar....we had a beer there yesterday and decided the food looked good. We then walked for two hours weaving in and out of alleys and bridges...finally discovering we had gone North somewhere
along the line and were way off course. Another hours walk and we made it to the Rialto Bridge. Six turns right...haha....I could go on and on. The waiters recognised us from yesterday and after a rapid discussion in Italian they brought us a glass of Prosecco....on the house! Fabulous fish meal!

So! Off we go...across the Rialto Bridge aiming for San Marco..our route that we know was blocked. Another hour and a half of tiny alleyways, dead ends, little bridges and gradually, no people. ....very dark with dim lights here and there. As you all know, I love the to watch movies, nothing ever scares me...the only film that has ever had any effect on me is 'Don't Look Now'. set in Venice, starring Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland.......well, this was as close as I'll get. Both exhausted when we got back at nine pm....we must have done a million steps today. Anyway, it's a great experience, and we are certainly getting to see a lot of Venice...off the beaten track,

Do hope I'm not boring you ..haha.
