Dr Martens

I think I bought my first pair of DMs when I was twelve or thirteen. I was obsessed with Madness and rather fancied myself as a 'rude boy'. (I was never going to be a Nutty Boy.)

For a while they were my favoured footwear both for school and casual but then I fell in love with electronic music and the New Romantic style of dress. From then on shoes and boots needed to be pointed and, ideally, suede.

The next time bought a pair of DMs was in 2002 on the day I went to see Radiohead at South Park. Unlike my previous pairs, these ones were not black but oxblood. And since then - apart from brogues to go with suits - all of my footwear has been from Dr Martens' stable.

I haven't bought any for a while. The Minx gave me last pair and they do last for ages but then I saw these on the Web. You can read about them here but they are basically built in the original style, which rather appealed to me.

All I've got to do now is break them in :-/
