Brownlee

I had a fantastic day today at the Olympics - watching Alistair Brownlee win the men's triathlon. Here he is, at Hyde Park Corner, on the penultimate lap in the cycling part of the event.

This is a rather hurried blip, as I have just got home but wanted to keep up my record of on the day blips. I took over 800 shots today so will post more on Flickr tomorrow, as soon as I have looked through them all.

After watching the cycling, from a great position, where I saw the cyclists pass 14 times, twice on each lap, I went into the enclosed area in Hyde Park, along with well over 100,000 others, to watch action on the many giant screens and find food and drink.

But I had a problem on entry. Apparently the organisers will not allow cameras with lenses more than 6 inches long - no idea why. The 24-105 mm lens on my 5D III, with its hood attached, looks longer than that. So I had a debate with the security staff, during which I was asked if I had anything 6 inches long to measure it against. Shortly after that I was admitted.
