Muscovy Duck
Today we decided to go on a tour of garden centres trying to source matching flag stones for a project at the Lodge. No luck!
I seem to have spent all summer posting shots of flowers so as one of the garden centres has some animals to keep the kids amused I settled for a duck shot.
Going by the size this is a Drake and judging by the size of the caruncles (yes the spelling is correct) it is a mature bird with a few years behind him. Muscovies are native to central America and Mexico and unlike most duck have claws. If they appear on a menu they are usually called Barbary Duck.
