Long day

S cooked us a splendid breakfast and then we drove up to Shrewsbury with D who guided us to the festival site. Met up with I and K and unloaded instruments and kit and then spent 10 mins putting stuff in place on stage - in a large tent with the sides closed up, which was hot and humid in the extreme. I was already sweating buckets before we'd even played a note. Anyway, the last Hot Vultures gig was accomplished without too many mistakes or swearing. Very impressive set-up, organisationally and sound-crew-wise. Then we had a wander round the festival site in the blazing sunshine, ate an icecream, then went into the beer tent for a pint during which there was a torrential downpour - only lasted 15 min or so, though.

Went back to Harley and picked up S in order to have a quiet relaxing pint sitting by the river Severn (extra) outside a pub called the Riverside Arms. Lovely old building - the date is 1750. Then a splendid meal back at D & S's, accompanied by wine and much blether. On Tuesday D is heading for the Pyrenees to commence the Camino de Santiago, or rather its pre-Christian precursor as he intends to walk all the way to Cape Finisterre. Even thinking about it made me fall into a sound sleep.
