Church bells

This is about as basic a ring of bells as you can get.  They are on top of the church in the neighbouring village and can only be clattered.  I have never heard them rung as services in the church are very rare, if they take place at all.  The day has been spent gardening, tidying and packing before leaving tomorrow.  It is always a bit of a wrench to leave but there are things to do back in the UK and it won't be long before we are back in France.  I did call in on friends in the morning and enjoyed a final coffee and cake.
