Costa Rica Adventure...Simply Resplendent

One of the many Highlights of this trip was being able to photograph the Resplendent Quetzal! The very last stop on our trip, we traveled high up into the mountains (7000') hoping to at least catch a glimpse of this beautiful bird. Fortunately our guide heard that several were feeding on an Avocado tree in the area so we climbed up a rather steep and muddy trail to find four males and a female happily dining on the avocados. Even though the female is a fine looking bird, the male Quetzal is truly a sight to behold! All those colors and that long graceful tail... We were there taking photos for about 45 minutes, I could have stayed all day! We fly out to Miami in the morning and then back home to Gainesville. I'm looking forward to seeing Tara, Maica and Leo (the cat). I've missed them very much and I have lots of stories to share with them! :)
