Cairns at the Potholes

We paid a visit this afternoon to the marvelous rocky pools at Whiteface, NH, aka the Potholes--simply to enjoy their beauty (the water was much too cold for swimming, despite wonderful sun).  Someone had constructed this impressive set of cairns at the far side of a middle pool--I had experiences single ones previously, but never this many.

The extras show a general view toward the highest pool (it was too bright for an ideal image), and a road approaching Whiteface--typical of the dirt roads around this gorgeous area.
