Time for Action

Time was when we used to enjoy lazing here on a balmy summer evening like now.
Sadly though, the ravages of all year exposure to the elements over many years have rather put paid to our quiet evening pleasures, just sitting in the garden.
My wife bought this pergola from a local garden centre, and it has provided a pleasing sitting area, relatively shaded during the day, yet positioned to get full benefit of the sun late into the evening.
We liked it because its open lattice allowed the passage of breeze possible, and yes the lattice provided a base for climbing plantss like clematis.
Unfortunately now that it has developed a marked lean, and the seat itself almost rotted away, I fear the only thing we can sensibly do is take it down. Then again, I’ve been looking at the price of even quite modest replacements, and measured that alongside the amount of time we actually spend sitting in the garden these days.
But what was once a feature of the garden is now an eyesore.

With a long bank holiday weekend approaching, perhaps another visit to the garden centre will need be on the agenda.
