La Fage to Pont-de-Montvert 20 km; 330m of ascent
Not a great night. The wind got up to a veritable gale, we were at 1300m so it was cold and Tricia worried all night that we underneath a tree and after about two hundred years of growth it was going to uproot itself and crash onto our tent.
Breakfast with the mother of the Gite d'etape's owner made a better start to the day and off we set on a mainly road based route. The extra photo was early in the day and we passed a series of impressive standing stones none of which were at all advertised. All quite big scenery with hills and mountains stretching off into the distance.
We arrived one day too late for a small village's Fete du Pain and so consequentially no additional refreshments were available en route. For the last section we took a footpath which was frustratingly determined to go uphill when our destination was clearly well below us in the valley.
Pont-de-Montvert however provided plenty of opportunity for refreshing beverages. Tricia was the winners of yesterday;s bet and go to chose from a choice of two restaurants to eat in. Her choice was fully booked so we went to the other one - not a great prize. The food was however quite decent - a huge bucket of soup amongst other things - and an early night beckoned. Our neighbours at the campsite however had other ideas having invited most of the village to their caravan for drinks until what seemed quite late.
Today's bet was on the number of cars that came our way on the 16km of road we used and my 25 just snuck in. I get to chose where to eat tomorrow.
