Dolly at Tynemouth Castle

We arrived back in England this morning, I'm pleased to have survived both trips with no seasickness, hoorah! On the way in/out of the port, we passed this ruin, we'd seen it before, but this time we decided to go and explore once we got back! It's Tynemouth castle and priory, parts of it date from the 13th century, but the bit you can see here is 15th century! There are also gun emplacements from the Second World War, an interesting bit of history, I couldn't quite believe how big they were, these were 6" guns! Definitely worth a visit, it's a very nice site! We headed home after that, we are both pretty exhausted after a busy few days!
