Day out at an aviation museum.

This is Tangmere Aviation Museum near Chichester on the site of a WW2 RAF airfield. I am anti-war, but the heroes of the past should be remembered; museums like this remind me of how many people died. War films such as the Dambusters tend to airbrush out the number of air crew who died (53 of 133, plus 3 taken prisoner).

The first extra gave me the creeps - I had no idea there were different types of nuclear bomb. I was a teenager when the Bay of Pigs crisis was unfolding, and I can still remember the feeling of dread. I had no faith in the Civil Defence measures such as getting under a table.

The other extra is a WW2 searchlight, candlepower 100 million, max range 7 miles. No wonder the cat is looking on disapprovingly.
