Whoa!!!

Too bad the Alternate Olympic Games are over.  This hummingbird fought the wind because she was determined, absolutely determined, to balance on the very tip of a Red Yucca stalk.  Totally amazing.  Then again, after watching these tiny birds for several years nothing should surprise me.

Oops, I just remembered that I haven't taken the feeders down for the night.  I realized this morning that the feeder I hung yesterday was completely empty.  That means only one thing...the nectar sucking lesser long-nosed bat is migrating through southern Arizona.  This could go on through the end of September.  While I have nothing against bats, these are a total pain in the arse.
